(Waste)

Waste are a four-piece rock band from Stevenage (UK); Jak Melvin (lead vocals /guitar), Max Hopwood (guitar), Josh Maher (bass) and Lawrence Ames (drums /vocals). The five track self-titled debut Waste EP is available to officially download on September 5th. Produced by Tom Dalgety, who was behind Royal Blood’s Mercury prize album nomination, “Thunder” is the lead single from the release with an exceptionally memorable underwater music video to match.

Prior to the boys official debut they have already created an organic buzz online with a demo called “Blow” racking up 20,000+ soundcloud plays and named Its All Indie “Track of the Week”. This buzz has stretched to the band’s live shows; a loud, ferocious, dynamic and tight knit experience. Priding themselves on their live performance they were deservedly named by Subba Cultcha as one of the “bands of the weekend” at Standon Calling festival. Apart from sharing the stage on the festival circuit with bands such as The Horrors, Slaves and The Dandy Warhols they have also supported Childhood and Frankie & The Heartstrings to date.

For Waste to have achieved so much prior to an official release this cohesive five track EP will surely cement their place as one of the industry’s hottest properties. Lead track “Thunder” being initially moody and intimate sounding, as it speaks about the anguish of disloyalty, still manages to sound uplifting with epic guitar riffs and a truly catchy chorus. Waste are to be both seen and heard.

“Rocking in a kind of Artic Monkeys vein and with some crazy riffs” Subba Cultcha live review at Standon Calling.
