Anna Lisa – hate

Anna Lisa is a Bristol-based singer-songwriter and producer, who has spent the last few years cultivating her sound and paving the way for her solo career to take flight. Having already made it into the Top 20 of the MOBO Unsung competition in 2016, Anna Lisa’s distinctive, haunting vocal style continues to bring her recognition as she readies herself for a string of forthcoming releases. Drawing on influence from grime, dubstep, trap and hip hop as a whole – from both the UK and US – alongside co-writer and producer MUSSI, she has reinvented herself and fine tuned her talents. The result is a deeply personal sound and style, with Anna Lisa weaving stories of emotional battles, heartbreak and unrestricted resentment within her music. You can expect to hear a lot from her corner in the coming months, as she gears up to release three singles, as well as her first ever music video. Her debut EP is also in the works, with a release scheduled for Summer 2019. All of that, plus a run of upcoming gigs and other appearances, make Anna Lisa one to watch in 2019 and beyond.

As 2019 continues, so does Anna Lisa’s run of fresh music as she hits us with her third single, Hate. Ever since her debut, Give Me A Reason, appeared on Valentine’s day 2019 we have been blessed with a new single each month, including March’s offering, Courage. The singles all follow a similar theme, as the Bristol-based singer-songwriter deals with moral dilemmas and emotional struggles. The pulsating, trap style production on Hate takes a step up in terms of tempo, with the faster style giving Anna Lisa’s lyrics more urgency, without losing any of that haunting quality that she displays in abundance, every time she steps in the booth. The production comes courtesy of Anna Lisa’s creative assistant and lab partner, MUSSI as they team up for yet another powerful track. With three successful singles and her first video behind her, 2019 is already looking set to be a triumph, but with the news that her debut EP is scheduled for release in the summer as well, the year definitely belongs to Anna Lisa.
