Keelan Mak – Sleep Talker

Emerging from the smoky late nights of Brisbane’s humid streets, Keelan Mak is a singer, songwriter, and producer creating a unique and sultry palette of electronic sounds.

Launching his career last year with debut single “Weigh You Down” and follow up single “Flicker“, Keelan Mak has made a mark with his sound and style. The two tracks have amassed over 500k streams, were added to major Spotify playlists (New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Indie Arrivals and more), and has received spins on triple j unearthed, triple j, and handfuls of community radio stations.

The tracks also caught the attention of bookers and artists around Australia – leading to Mak supporting Vera Blue, E^ST, Matthew Young and Alice Ivy, as well as co-writing with some of Australia and New Zealand’s top upcoming producers including Fossa Beats, Maribelle, and SACHI, and a feature vocal on single “Wouldn’t Be The Same” from Australian electronic favourites Tora.

Recently winning the AMEX Music Backers grant, Keelan was also a finalist in the 2018 Billy Thorpe Scholarship, and was one of two hand-picked showcasing artists representing triple j unearthed at BIGSOUND 2018.

After announcing the forthcoming release of his debut EP ‘Test The Shallows’ , Keelan Mak today reveals the dark and enigmatic video for new single “Sleep Talker, a melancholic disco track which plays with garage house influences, woozy layers of synth and beats, and smooth vocal toplines.
Premiering on Notion Magazine overnight, the concept of the video centres on a lover who’s manufactured a fantasy world to escape the reality of his relationship.

The motel sets the real-life situation of two lovers meeting for a late-night rendezvous. The protagonist is quickly pulled into a hypnotic state which draws him out of the motel, stumbling towards a glowing red box within another world where he can temporarily be himself.

dwilly – ugh

South Carolina native David Wilson, commonly known as dwilly, first broke into the electronic music scene while attending Berklee College of Music in 2016. Will be opening up at Zedd On The Rocks on June 19th, 2019 alongside Hippie Sabotage and Snakehips.

“CRAYOLA the EP is a retirement from the early stages of my artistry and into my deeper darker personal struggles. As I approach the age of 24, I realize my music has matured into something much more emotional and honest. That being said, the songs are flooded with immaturity, youthfulness, and a punch to the gut. I now see things differently as an adult, having to deal with the everyday bullshit that was once foreign to me as a kid. The lyrical content itself shies from popular topics like the culture surrounding drugs and violence and truthfully embraces things like failure and anxiety. My favorite part about the EP is how unsystematic the tracklist is, reflecting my impulsive imagination. Each song offers a different vibe. I want both kids and adults to fuck with this. I’m not targeting any audiences, just simply painting my mind onto a canvas for anyone to enjoy.”

“Bleed” was the product of a weekend-long cabin getaway to middle of nowhere southern Ohio.  We initially went to the cabin to work on a couple of existing ideas we had been struggling with, but ended up writing several new ideas via some impromptu jam sessions – one of which turned into this track. We wanted “Bleed” to feel nostalgic, like a fond look back on some forgotten, perfect summer day that really never existed except in our memory of it.

Psychedelic pop infused four-piece, Captain Kidd once again showcase their songwriting capabilities with ‘LIMIT’. ‘Indietronica’

Speaking of the track, they explain

“Limit” is our most collaborative effort as a band yet. We bounced a ton of ideas off each other and really stuck to our decision to not overthink anything, but rather let the song develop naturally as those ideas poured out. We had fun with this one. We were watching 007 Casino Royale and thought, “hey let’s write a James Bond dance song.””
