Novele – Furthest

Novele is the brainchild of 26-year-old singer/songwriter/producer Austin Fitzpatrick. From an early age, Austin was surrounded by music. His uncle, John Cale, is a founding member of Velvet Underground and his Aunt was a major label executive for
most her life. Austin’s father was also a musician and DJ and raised him on soul, R&B and Hip-Hop music.

Born in Mission Viejo and raised in Corona, Austin has a deep affinity for Southern California and its culture. Some of his earliest inspirations were California artists No Doubt, Dr. Dre and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. From there he ventured further into the Alternative and Hip-Hop realms like Run DMC, Bloc Party and Gorillaz (specifically their album Demon Days).

At age 12, Austin taught himself the drums and electric guitar and began to make his own music. He then started to play in a handful of bands and joined music programs at his junior high school. His passion for music only expanded as he entered high school. At age 14, he formed a band with his friends Kyle Harward and Jeff Riggs –
Novele.

Novele began as a garage-rock band in the Inland Empire of Southern California. In early years, the trio played countless house parties and shows in and around their hometown. This was mainly experimental music in the vein of As Tall As Lions. They then faced turbulent times due to a variety of mental health and funding issues and had to take a break from each other. Kyle and Jeff have since returned to the group, but Austin remains the principal songwriter.

During the time apart, Austin continued to grow as a musician, songwriter and producer. He began to focus more on creating hip-hop beats for rappers. However, his love for punk and pop music never left and he began to fuse the genres into one.

This is where Novele’s current sound stems from. A fusion of punk, hip-hop and pop that form a true alternative style. The songs and lyrics pull from Austin’s personal experiences and struggles with mental health and overcoming depression which encompasses the deep emotion and raw passion that fuel the music.

Now 10 years later, Novele is set to release a debut demo album on September 14th. The album contains ideas from the early band days (“After The War”, “Rubies”) as well as newer tracks that Austin composed on his own (“T.S.”, “Tears”). The album is a journey through the tempestuous yet beautiful lifespan of the band. Enjoy.

NewWaves – In The Clouds

NewWaves are an Alternative rock band, founded in the fall of 2015, from Stockholm, Sweden. Tim Sundström (guitar, backing vocals), Christoffer Bellonius (guitar), Erik Johansson (drum set, percussion) and our new vocalist (since a week ago) Ejnar Örjes.
NewWaves make alternative rock with influences from pop, punk and electronica. Everything started when Tim Sundström had been on a tour with his last band, full of inspiration and commitment to music. Heavily influenced by Imagine Dragons he wanted to make something of his own.
The reason why they are doing this is because they love making and performing music, but more than that, they want to be able to provide value to other people through their music. NewWaves want to be able to make people feel like they are enjoying the moment, despite what problems or difficulties they may have. They want to be able to make people of all different ethnicities, financial and cultural backgrounds feel relief and enjoyment, if only for just a moment, in a world that is full of stress and problems.”
They released a single named “Experience” in 2016 with a music video as well as an EP called “The Things We Do” in 2017. In the process of releasing the EP we released a single called “In The Clouds” and a music Video for that song.
“Right now we’re in the process of writing new music and teaching everything to our new vocalist Ejnar, getting him completely comfortable and happy in the band. We are planning our future and brainstorming ideas on what to do next”.
We are planning on having a photoshoot with the new line-up to present Ejnar to the world. We are also planning to record new songs in the near future, which will be awesome. We will soon be booking new shows to play.

Suzi Island – Show Me The Way

Suzi Island

Suzi Island, a duo from Brighton release their debut single produced and mixed by Pete Robertson of the Vaccines. It’s a driving, bass-heavy anthem and the first single from the alternative guitar band. It follows on from their packed-out debut show at The Green Door Store in January.

Following in the footsteps of Royal Blood, British Sea Power and most recently the likes of Yonaka & Dream Wife, Suzi Island are the latest band to form in the breezy seaside town of Brighton, England. Despite being only 19 yrs old, playing music is nothing new for Hugh
Reilly-Smith and Matthew Carter.

Suzi Island represents childhood friendship and a move away from home to Brighton, to study music. The two 19 year olds grew up together in Andover, playing in bands all their teenage lives. That was the journey and Suzi Island has always been the destination.

They are joined on stage by Carlie Randall-Smith and Harvey Norman, and alongside playing the music, they all live together too. With lyrics based on the ‘Real Life’, (the title of one of their future singles) they manage to capture the inspiration within their daily lives. This is what they are about: Living life, finding your way, discovery and fun.

Currently working on more music with Pete of The Vaccines fame, and Larry Hibbit who has worked on breakthrough records from Nothing But Thieves and Sundara Karma. They have a packed 2018 with several more singles due before the years out and
numerous live dates.

“Pop trio Suzi Island (Hugh Reilly-Smith, Matthew Carter and Carlie Randall) share the first of five new tracks for 2019 with Halo—a righteously ripped synth riff driven sound-speculator with passionate vocals that you can check out above. A 2nd track is legit a week or so away. Listen above and love!” (Music For The Soul)

GOODBLOOD – Flyin

GOODBLOOD

Is there anything Chinese restaurants can’t do? Egg rolls—Got ‘em. Paper dragons —No problem. And if you’re GOODBLOOD, the singer-songwriter duo from Columbus, Ohio, they’re also a great place to meet prospective bandmates. Shortly after being introduced at a friend’s birthday party (yep, at a Chinese restaurant) in 2011, Jason Turner and Tyler Earnest began writing songs together and eventually started a band called Fashion Week. The band released several EPs and secured opening spots for bands like Churchill and CRUISR, but in 2015 Turner and Earnest decided to expand their creative output to include a new project and collection of songs with a different focus in mind. “We wanted to make music that was simple and really emotive — stuff that shows a different side of what we’re into,” Turner said. “And we wanted to do it in a way that was easy and more spontaneous—songs that didn’t require an excessive amount of tracks or weeks and weeks in the studio.” The result was the beginning of GOODBLOOD and a crop of songs that went on to comprise their debut EP— Don’t Lose Your Head. The band’s second EP—Domestic Bliss— was released on September 1, 2017 and features tracks like Flyin’ and Hold Me Now. GOODBLOOD’s signature sound features  predominantly acoustic instrumentation, memorable melodies and deeply personal lyrics and draws from artistic influences like Vance Joy, Sufjan Stevens and Julien Baker.

KNGDAVD – Shame

You’d think KNGDAVD was born when The White Stripes, Black Keys and Freddie Mercury had a menage-a-trois, but you’d be wrong. The duo met in jazz school, where producer/multi-instrumentalist Jon Buscema not so famously told then R&B singer Tye James (after corrupting him with his first ever joint followed by his first ever cigarette)  “You should cut the shit and just front a rock band.“ The comment, disregarded as a joke, became a foreshadowing of things to come when the pair reconnected in NYC.

As musicians and people Tye and Jon couldn’t be more opposite – Tye loves 90’s R&B, Jon prefers classic rock. Tye loves christmas music, Jon HATES christmas music, Tye goes to church, Jon…doesn’t. But it’s this contrast that allows the duo to work so well together. They’re combination of badass stadium ready beats, soaring pop melodies, and quirky lyrics will have you turning up, rocking out and pissing off your parents.

Iolite – Ring Of Fire

Iolite

Alternative pop artist Iolite, sets a flame with her new single “Better Without You”, as she carelessly performs in front of a forest fire with collaborators, Solarsuns. The collaborators conspire to blend the worlds of light and dark in this beautifully, haunting single and cinematic video. Washed over by lush melodies, dream pop rhythms and aggressive synths you can be sure that “Better Without You” will be the dawn of a new, dark-pop era. The chorus lyric explains the song’s emotion perfectly – “I know I’m better without you, but when I’m with you, I can’t live without you.” Elina, the 19-year-old artist explains, “it’s about understanding that a situation is not good for you in the long run, but you can’t help running back to it – because in the end we all make mistakes, and well…we’re human.”

Alternative pop singer and songwriter, Elina goes by the stage name Iolite. A native of Denver, Colorado, she hails from a family of musicians who immigrated to the United States from Russia in 1996. At the age of 7 she began playing classical piano and shortly after started writing original songs and performing wherever she had a chance. In 2016, Iolite independently released her first official project; emotional yet edgy pop tracks, including her first single, “Spinning”.
